Lady Bucks Golf Team end regular season with second place finish in the conference

posted Oct 18, 2013, 7:27 AM by JODIE BRYANT

The Women's Golf Team traveled to Pinehurst on Monday to play their toughest course of the year, Pinehurst #6.  Pinehurst #6 was recently ranked in Golf Magazine as one of the top 50 most challenging courses on the east coast.  The Bucks went into this match, the final match of the year, with second place in the conference locked up and hoping to gain some ground on Pinecrest.

When the dust settled, the Lady Bucks had once again risen to the occasion.  With the circumstances at hand and the weather playing tricks on them, the Bucks were able to pull out a second place finish as a team once more and creep 13 strokes closer to Pinecrest.  The Lady Bucks were able to shoot a 383 as a team, with the Patriots coming in with a 335.  Megan Munroe was able to pull out a second place individual finish, shooting a personal best for her career at Pinehurst #6 with a 76.  Briana Locklear was also able to finish in the top ten, shooting a 99.  Alexis Rodriguez and Savannah Brunson also finished in the top 15, each shooting a 104.

 Individual Laurels:

*Megan Munroe finished 2nd overall in the conference individually with a 74.3 average for the year.

*Briana Locklear finished 7th in the conference individually with a 94.9 average for the year.

*Alexis Rodriguez finished 11th overall in the conference with a 104.2 average for the year.

*Megan Munroe and Briana Locklear were named to the Southeastern Conference All-Conference Team.

*Alexis Rodriguez was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

*Megan Munroe and Briana Locklear will compete at Regionals on Course #1 at Pinehurst on Tuesday, October 22.

If you see any of these young women, congratulate them.  This was a great year for the program, as they made some very broad steps in taking Lady Bucks’ Golf to the next level, but they are not done yet...on to the playoffs!

GO BUCKS!!!!!!
