Four students from McLauchlin Elementary will participate in the Region Four Summer Institute, “Sustaining Success...Building on Achievement,” hosted by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction scheduled for this summer.  These students have been selected as the guest speakers, opening the two-day event which ‘provides educators across the state with meaningful professional development that will take them to the next level in READY implementation (Common Core, New Assessments, Educator Effectiveness, Home Base, and more).’  Jamarion McIntosh, Kayleigh Corella, Nailah Quick, and Abdul Hassan (pictured clockwise from the top left corner) are no strangers to oration.  They are dedicated to the craft of public speaking and competed earlier in the year during the district civic oration competition.  Kayleigh Corella placed first in that competition.
