Summer reading is essential for keeping students engaged and preventing learning loss. Research from Free Books to Close the Reading Achievement Gap by Richard L. Allington shows that access to books over the summer helps children maintain and even improve their reading skills.

To support this, Hoke County Schools partners with Hoke County Public Library through the Student Access program, allowing students to check out digital books using their student ID number—no library card needed! The Hoke County Public Library also offers hotspot checkouts to help families stay connected to digital reading resources.
