North Carolina House Bill 805: Requesting Book Restrictions
School Library and Classroom Collections
North Carolina House Bill 805 gives parents the option to request limits on the books their child may access in school libraries or classroom collections. If you would like your child to be restricted from checking out specific titles, simply complete the Book Restriction Request Form provided here. Once submitted, the school’s principal and library media coordinator will be notified, and your child’s teacher will ensure the restriction is followed in the classroom. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s principal.
NC Cardinal Student Access: Opt-Out Information
The NC Cardinal Student Access program allows students to use their school ID to access digital library resources through the Hoke County Public Library (HCPL). This includes access to the NC Kids Digital Library and NC Kids Level Up Library Collections. However, participation is optional. If you prefer that your child not participate in Student Access, please complete the Opt-Out Form provided here and return it to HCPL, not the school. At this time, the system does not support restricting access to specific titles. Opting out will disable your child’s access to the program entirely.
