Public Records Requests
Hoke County Schools strives to be open and transparent about district information, projects, initiatives, data, and challenges. The Public Relations department tracks and responds to public records requests that involve any district department.
The public records of Hoke County Schools are governed by North Carolina General Statute §132-6.2, and Hoke County Board of Education Policy 5070/7350 Public Records Release, Retention, and Disposition. All requests for examining or obtaining copies of public records should be in writing.
Under N.C. General Statute 132-6.2, records custodians are permitted to charge a fee when copies of records are requested. This charge is based on the actual cost of making the copy. Please be aware that North Carolina law does not require a government agency to create or compile records or databases that do not already exist. We respond to public records requests within a reasonable amount of time, which is dependent upon such factors as the extent of the request and the physical location of the documents. Please remember that public records requests and responses to those requests may also be considered public records.
