Rising Stars Kindergarten Transition Program

The Rising Stars program provides a free, unique educational opportunity for five-year-old children in the summer before they enter Kindergarten in the fall.

Goals of Rising Stars

  • Help children transition to Kindergarten
  • Encourage parents to become involved in school activities
  • Allow children to learn to play together
  • Teach children about rules
  • Explore math and science with hands-on activities
  • Introduce children to the alphabet in a fun way

Enrollment

Children will be identified through Hoke County Schools' Kindergarten Registration.  Students entering Kindergarten in the Fall will be eligible to participate in the program. Once registration and testing are complete, qualifying students who will benefit most from the Program will be invited to participate.

The Rising Stars program covers phonics and reading, math, science, social skills, and school procedures

Program Details

  • Rising Stars typically begins in July
  • Student hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Breakfast and Lunch are provided
    • Students practice lunchroom procedures
    • Students practice traveling positions
    • Students practice drop-off and dismissal
  • High-quality educational resources and materials are provided
